The product that started it all….
Thousands of miles. One simple rag.
This is the original Merino wool Trail Rag trusted by hikers on the AT, PCT, CDT, and beyond. Made from 100% New Zealand Merino wool and hand-finished in the U.S., it’s your all-purpose backcountry cloth—sweat rag, pot holder, trail towel, and more.
Choose your size:
• Small – designed for speed, sweat and simplicity
• Medium – sized for versatility without compromise
• Large – perfect when you need more surface, not more weight
What makes it perfect for long hauls? Merino’s natural resistance to bacteria and odor. Unlike synthetic or cotton rags ours won't turn sour after a few sweaty days. You can use it again and again without worrying about nasty buildup—an essential edge when showers are rare and hygiene is survival.
Each Trail Rag comes with a reinforced loop for easy clipping to your backpack, so it’s always close at hand and air-drying while you hike. No stuffing it in a pocket. No soggy surprises Just grab, wipe, and keep moving.
Trail smart. Pack light. Stay fresh.
Simply hand wash/lay flat to dry. (Off trail, feel free to machine wash using a “delicates” cycle and tumble dry on low)

Beautifully made! Will be wonderful when golfing, hiking and fishing!
Game changer for me. Love having it hanging off my pack to use. So convenient & so soft!
Oh my goodness. I can't believe how functional this Glacial Gear trail rag is. No matter what the weather, it always feels soft. I was surprised at how absorbent it is and then quickly dries. I will order more of these trail rags at various sizes to replace my bandanas. Well done Glacial Gear.
Merino wool feels good on my skin.
Just received my 2nd one, first time around I bought a small, it's either attached to my pack or in the wash. Bought a medium this time around and will be using it on my annual trip to Big Bend.
I use the small daily, I have four dogs (GSD/MAL, GSD and two Chihuahuas) so I do a lot of walking/rucking with them when not out on the trail. It's hot down here in Texas, my Trail Rag is an essential piece of gear, I would have melted a long time ago without it.
Buy one or two - you will not regret it.
